Jim was educated in New Bedford Catholic schools and graduated
from New Bedford Vocational High School in the Electrical Department.

After graduation, Jim joined Oceanographic Division of Sippican
Corporation a defense contractor in Marion. As a member of the Army
National Guard Jim was activated with his unit in 1968 and was sent
to Vietnam for a tour of duty. When Jim returned he availed himself of
the GI Benefit to attend UMASS Dartmouth’s evening program Jim
attended college for seven years majoring in Business Management.

Jim’s electrical background along with his education in business
management pointed him in the direction as an Electro-Mechanical
Purchasing Agent for Mitel Inc., a telecom manufacturer in
Ogdensburg, New York. In 1990, Jim joined Glynn Electronics
in Middleboro as Production Manager and Estimator.

Jim then, joined Poyant Signs in 2002 as a Project Manager. For
the first few weeks at Poyant Signs Jim worked in the shop and went
on the road with the sign crew to increase his knowledge of the sign
business. Jim’s strength was recognized in quoting and estimating. Jim
was promoted to Senior Estimator in 2003 working closely with the
fabrication, design, sales and project management departments.
