UMass Amherst Recreation Center
This new Recreation Center is a state-of-the-art complex, designed by the internationally recognized architectural firm, Sasaki. It incorporates fitness and wellness programs, intramural activities, recreation and sport clubs. This project was on a fast track to begin in July with final installation in September. Poyant was responsible for providing interior and exterior identification, information, wayfinding, and specialty signs. Our team, lead by Sales Executive Gary Bolduc, Designer PJ Mitchell and Project Manager Jeff Cain, worked closely with Sasaki to ensure the graphic integrity of their design was not compromised.
The wayfinding and specialty signage featured a mixed media of aluminum panels with dye sublimated graphics, stainless steel dimensional letters, digitally printed polycarbonate, masked and sprayed aluminum panels with applied laser cut acrylic forms and vinyl applied to clear glaze and painted wall panels. The ADA component included tactile and photopolymer sign panels. The artistic style and design intent was successfully completed resulting in a wayfinding system that unifies the facility with a motivating, healthful theme. Poyant’s team delivered the project on time and on budget in spite of the tight delivery schedule.
